Movies and series — February 2018
Movies and series I watched during February 2018
Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri (9/10)
Fantastic performances. Great and shocking story. First film I’ve watched for the Oscars 2018, and it will be really hard to beat.
Call me by your name (9/10)
Surprisingly good. Beautiful movie about a love story, very well narrated, detailed. The acting is fantastic, the details on everything.. Makes another good candidate for the Best movie.
Star Trek: Discovery S1 (9/10)
Surprisingly good for even with a lack of budget. Very charismatic Captain, and the series has a couple of amazing episodes that left me astonished. Really enjoyable if you like Star Trek universe
Altered Carbon (8/10)
Cyberpunk 2020/blade runner kind of series. Very good plot and atmosphere. Main actor not as good.
The darkest hour (6/10)
Same story as Dunkirk, from Churchill point of view, but more entertaining.
Get out (6/10)
An entertaining thriller/terror movie that has a plot beyond the easy scary tricks.
The Post (6/10)
Good cast and acting. Interesting story, for historical reasons to understand the world we live today.
The shape of water (6/10)
Better the trailer than the movie. Is well made, some good scenes and good acting, but boring and very predictable script.
Dunkirk (5/10)
Expected to be better. A little bit of confusion with multiple stories and not ordered chronologically. Just a war movie based on real events.
Justice league 2017 (5/10)
Not as good as Wonder Woman or Superman solo movies. Darker than Marvel movies.
Phantom thread (5/10)
I can understand why this kind of movie could be nominated for the Oscar’s, (actor, supporting actress, costumes design..) but not as best movie. Some shots remind me The Young Pope series, but not as good, or entertaining, or good soundtrack, or plot.
Lady Bird (4/10)
Young adults movie. Not as good as Perks of being a wallflower. Tedious at some points. Good acting, but not enough to be one of the best of the year
